Building a Rapport with students

We want to be able to motivate our students into achieving their goals and aspiring them to be the best possible version of themselves, this is one of the many reasons we love working with our students and building long lasting relationships. A key aspect for us in an effective student relationship is offering support, guidance and being honest with our students.

I spoke to some of our staff here on what they love about our students. Tim our course advisor wrote:

“No two students at LET Training are identical – everyone has their own background and their own goals.  I love hearing about where people have come from and where they eventually want to be, and I’m also happy that we’re able to provide help to get them closer to those goals”.

Building a rapport

What does building a rapport with students mean to us?

As a whole, developing a mutual trust, friendship, and affinity with a student. We like to put in the time, effort, and commitment to help our students and give them the opportunity to further themselves and their careers.

I asked some of my colleagues what it means for them as an individual. Our course advisor Tim wrote

“To see them as more than a name on a screen or a page. To remember your previous conversations with them and actually take an interest in their goals and plans”. Our student support officer Alicia wrote “To build mutual trust between students and us and enhance learning”.

What we have learnt from our Students

Some of our best conversations have been with our students. We not only teach our students, but they teach us, we have learnt to become more motivated. Some of our students are working a 9-5 job and have so many responsibilities already that they also need to uphold (on top of their study) and somehow, they manage to keep going! That is true passion and a love to further yourself and your education! Not only that, but the story’s we also hear about life experiences can be very insightful and is always interesting to hear!
