Is working from home the future for businesses?
Is working from home the future for businesses?
In Australia at the moment, we have a large percent of the population working from home.
The COVID-19 Pandemic has changed so much; it looks like one of those changes in the future of our working lives.
Here’s why…
The ACTU Working from Home Survey showed that 47.7% of people working from home reported they were more productive.
There are many benefits to working from home, like job satisfaction. Job satisfaction is such a powerful thing, and in times like this, you want a flexible job – flexible working is actually considered the top work perk by around 59% of employees.
We can go through the perks for employees all day, BUT what are employers thoughts on working from home…?
Businesses that have not been significantly affected by COVID-19 may have had the option to go remote. Companies who have taken up this option have reported an increase in employee productivity and employee self-motivation.
So, with the strong demand for remote work – is it time to consider a career change? Let’s go over the pros and cons…
What’re the Pros
- Flexibility. With your desk, computer, headset and cup of coffee set up – you can work anytime and anywhere.
- Improved focus. How often have you been at work and start finding yourself distracted? Remote work improves your self-discipline.
- Save money. This one is a big one. Who isn’t looking for a way to bargain a better savings account?
- Make time for education. Working a 9-5 job whilst studying is one of the most difficult things to do, BUT imagine as soon as you finish work you can sit down, have some afternoon tea or dinner and then jump online to do your course!
What’re the Cons
- Communication. Yes, this will be a con at first; however, with the right processes and the right digital platforms – it is something any business can make work.
- Socialisation. If you are a very social person and social interactions are something you need at work, working remote probably isn’t for you. If you really want to go remote, though, you may want to consider something like team webinars or client webinars, and this is to keep up your daily socialisation.
